Why is the contact surface of the ballstud important?

Why is contact surface of ball stud so important?

Ball joint has a structure where a ball can move in any motion within a ball seat. The condition and area of contact surface are very important as ball seat and ball can move by contacting each other. Smoother surface of ball may cause less noise with result of minimizing friction in ball seat. CTR controls the roughness of ball stud to maintain smooth surface at the maximum, and the ball seat is made of polymer rather than steel that it is much softer with better oil film from grease.

Our hybrid stabilizer links went one stage further by injecting reinforced polymer directly around the ball. Compared to our standard version, this hybrid model has smoother surface with wider contact area  which leads to initial performance for a longer period due to less wear and tear.

What is the advantage of having a larger contact area?

Ball joint responds on movement of the suspensions which can be affected in various environment with shocks. Since the contact surface of the ball stud is designed to absorb and transmit various shocks, wider contact surface, and more stable load can be distributed. Special grease, located between ball seat and stud, forms a continuous oil film in order to maintain proper torque even in a large area. Our Hybrid stabilizer link maximizes these advantages and also provides superior durability than our standard type.
